Defamation

Plaintiff #Johnny_Depp alleged #defamation against defendant #Amber_Heard. Heard filed a counterclaim against Depp with initial claim of: personal immunity to civil liability and both defamation and harassment by computer by Depp directly or through his agents.

The #jury found that all statements from Heard were false and defamed Depp with actual malice.

In regard to Heard’s counterclaim, the jury found the second of the three of contested statements that Depp’s former #lawyer Adam Waldman’s had published in the Daily Mail to be defamatory and that this claim was false and defamed Heard with actual malice. Regarding the other two contested statements (“Amber Heard and her friends in the #media use fake sexual-violence allegations as both a sword and shield depending on their needs. They have selected some of her #sexual_violence hoax ‘facts’ as the sword, inflicting them on the public and Mr. Depp” and “We have reached the beginning of the end of Ms. Heard’s abuse hoax against Johnny Depp”) the jurors concluded that Heard’s #attorneys had not proven all the elements of defamation.

But what is defamation?
